A Guide to Miami’s Top Neighborhoods Part 2

As of 2018, the estimated population of Miami, Florida, sits right below 480,000 people. Miami is known for its vibrant neighborhoods and an outdoor embracing lifestyle. Whether you are looking to stay near the beach, looking for something more urban, Miami neighborhoods have something to offer everyone.

Coconut Grove

Known as “The Grove” to Miami locals, Coconut Grove boasts a laid-back, romantic atmosphere. Regardless of the time of day, take a stroll through Peacock Park and onto the marina boardwalk. Coconut Grove is an excellent destination for a relaxed night out with Plant Food + Wine, Peacock Garden Cafe, Panorama Restaurant and Sky Lounge, and Monty’s rounding out the restaurant choices.

Downtown Miami

Often overlooked, Downtown Miami is home to the Olympia Theater. This historic arts center is home to local events, Broadway productions, and live jazz. Downtown Miami is also a short walk to Bayside, where locals enjoy live music, shopping, and restaurants right on the water.

Officially dubbed the financial district, Brickell is a hub for Miami transplants. Whether you’re looking for dining or shopping, Brickell has it! Restaurants like Sidebar and Blackbird Ordinary are the perfect spot to grab drinks before a night of cabaret at El Tucan. Brickell is also home to a new shopping center, Brickell City Centre, and has a variety of stores for every budget!

Upper Eastside

The Upper Eastside is an Instagrammer’s paradise. Also known as the MiMo District, it’s home to several bright colored motels, many of which have been restored to look like they’re right out of a 70s movie! Whether you’re looking to visit Jimmy’s Eastside Diner, featured in the movie Moonlight, or walk around the neighborhood snapping photos, the Upper Eastside is a must-visit destination while in Miami.

Midtown is a must-see stop when visiting the different neighborhoods of Miami. Whether you’re looking for a spot to shop, grab a glass of wine, or hang out for the day, Midtown is the perfect destination. The Midtown Mall is home to a variety of restaurants and shopping. If you’re looking for great finds, make sure to stop in at Grubstake Thrift Store. From records to books, vintage dresses, and home decor, Grubstake has excellent finds for very low prices!
