A Guide to Miami’s Top Neighborhoods

As of 2018, the estimated population of Miami, Florida, sits right below 480,000 people. Whether they live near the beach or outside of the downtown area, Miami is known for its vibrant neighborhoods and an outdoor embracing lifestyle. Whether you are looking to stay near the beach, looking for something more urban, Miami neighborhoods have something to offer everyone. The following are just a few of Miami’s coolest neighborhoods!

Miami’s Design District

Known as the trendiest zip code in Miami, Miami’s Design District is tucked between Buena Vista, the Upper Eastside, Edgewater, Midtown, and Wynwood. The areas older warehouses have been renovated into showrooms, gallery spaces, and upscale brand-name retail locations. The Design District is also known for its sophisticated restaurant scene!

Wynwood has transformed into Miami’s arts district. While the galleries may be eclectic, Wynwood is the perfect place to walk around and admire the colorful street art which covers most buildings! There is also plenty of shopping in the neighborhood’s unique retail stores. And of course, like most neighborhoods in Miami, Wynwood has some great restaurants as well! From pappardelle gratinate at Joey’s Italian Cafe to a Whiskey Sour at Wood Tavern, there are a plethora of places to check out!

Coral Gables

Commonly referred to as “The City Beautiful,” Coral Gables is known for its lush greenery and other natural elements that enhance its whimsical garden vibe. The neighborhood features Spanish architecture and is home to many must-visit locations! Coral Gables is also home to the haunted Biltmore Hotel, the Venetian Pool, and the University of Miami. But Coral Gables is nothing close to your traditional college town!

Miami Beach

Most people know Miami Beach as the hotspot always shown on TV shows and in movies, but Miami Beach is more than just that! Known for its historic Art Deco vibes, Miami Beach is home to more than just the beach and nightclubs! The Betsy Hotel, Soho Beach House, and the Lincoln Road Mall are some of the biggest draws to the neighborhood. Miami Beach is also home to some pretty well known “dive” bars. Check out Big Pink if you’re looking for a great meal, or Kill Your Idol if you’re in the mood for some great cocktails.
